September 7, 2008
Online shopping is defined as the process by which consumers purchase products or services over the Internet. With the advent of technological endeavor shopping has now taken a revolutionary turn. With the two kinds of people we know, one are those who spends lot of their time in cyberspace and the other who does not.
The first category does its banking, shopping and trading on the Net apart from buying groceries and household stuffs. Some also perceive online shopping as a way of extending their physical malls and points of sale to larger congregations. As a result, the community is coming closer and closer. From small greetings cards to that of mobile phones one can buy and even sell products online. The joy and thrill of shopping indeed can’t be compared with any anything else.
Even the Indian market scenario has changed and the retailers are paying more attention to product quality. In a price sensitive market like India, the retailers are leveraging the consumers by giving big discounts rebates and offers. But even the thrill of bargaining and shopping in an air-conditioned, western format mall wears off, the lack of discipline among the staff and their perpetual chattering in the aisles begins to irritate.
Hence, online shopping is a solution, which not only saves our time but also cuts down the traveling costs.
But on a deeper note, does online shopping for groceries and household stuffs works? Or is it just the amalgamation of the marketers merely trying to hold their dream without the systems and manpower?
