Gifts to Give your Dad This Christmas
October 15, 2008
Dads are perhaps the trickiest species to give gifts to this Christmas season. Or any occasion, for that matter. Must be because dads are unsmiling, inscrutable creatures, seemingly hard-to-please and made to hide their emotions. And oh yeah, most dads already have everything in life and have nothing to ask for anymore, making it doubly hard to give the best gift to them.
But of course, dads know how to appreciate every gift that comes their way. So don’t worry. Dads may be tricky, but they’re not made of stone.
What gifts to give dad then? Here’s a list of great holiday gifts that might make you go scratch your head for a while, but will come clear to you, and your dad, eventually.
Fire extinguisher. Yes, you heard right. Fire extinguishers as gifts to go into the home. All dads want to be able to save the day, even if it’s just the littlest fire that breaks out.
Road map. Perfect holiday gift for dads who have no sense of direction.
Necktie. An obvious gift choice. But for a change, do something reckless with it. Give a tie with Spongebob prints, or Dora. You get the picture. For sure, he’ll be the star among his peers at the office.
Action Figure of your dad’s favorite hero back in his days. You’ll have to do a bit of researching here, which, come to think of it, makes for a good one-on-one, bonding session with your dad. Of course, be discreet with your line of questioning; otherwise he might suspect there’s going to be some gift giving here. Who knows, as you exchange stories about your favorite hero, you might even get your very own toy action figure from him in turn.
Shaver. Pick something expensive and with great features, so your dad can’t say it’s just a razor. For good measure, throw in some shaving cream and some perfume too.
Car Pillow. So your dad can do his driving comfortably, even when he’s lost. Hopefully, you’ve given him the road map (see no. 2) as well.
Membership in a gym. If the health craze hasn’t bitten your dad yet, this is the perfect gift to give dads with beer bellies.
Membership in a worthwhile cause. Charity for orphans, for the deprived people in third world countries, for saving the environment. You might want to send in your donations on a regular basis, not just on one occasion.
Flower Gift Delivery. Serious. Your dad will thank you for it. If you’re his daughter, then good; if you’re his son, even better. Guys in touch with their femininity. What the world needs these days. Don’t worry because your favorite flower shop in the Philippines has manly flower delivery and arrangements for even the most macho dads in this planet.
So there. Send a gift to your dad, because they’re not getting any younger, you know.
