Internet Marketers Challenge

September 5, 2008

I remember the day I set out in my research to find a lucrative means to make money online. I knew in the core of my being there must be a legitimate way to do this, so I paid attention to ads that spoke my language and answered yes to two questions:

Do I believe it possible to make good money online?
Am I willing to start at the beginning and work hard?

I have been in this business for a very short time and what I see is a severely over-aggrandized type of sell when it comes to informational products for ways to make money online. Every product is the BEST; every product is CUTTING EDGE; every product is something WE CANT DO WITHOUT. Many products make huge promises about big money to be made, which is probably true, but important details are left out, only to be discovered later. An example might be: We are told how much money is MADE, but not told how much was SPENT to accomplish that.

I believe Internet Marketers are faced with a huge challenge in presenting ourselves. Do we want to be known as Credible or In-credible? Most people can spot pure hype- but it seems that is what is mostly available, so any purchase is basically a gamble.

I started out as a skeptic and now I am even more so. I can barely read the first page of a Make Money Online site without saying to myself, Cmon.

Here is the challenge I see, at least for myself: Am I willing to become what I dislike in order to make a sale? Or am I willing to take the risk and tell people my true experience? My experience to date has been: Getting started in Internet Marketing takes work and it can be especially hard work if you have no experience or background. There is a lot to learn, BUT... it is very exciting too.

I believe the best sell is the Honest Sell. The one that says: You can Make Money Online and well show you how... but get ready to roll up your sleeves and do a little work to make money online, and when you need help (because you probably will), well be here to help you through it and get the job done. This is something you really should look for: a product that is going to do more than be a cheerleader; telling you that you can. It needs to be a product that is going to tell you how, and one that is backed by support.

There are some internet marketers that do this, but I see very few. When I do come across them, THEY get my attention; THEY get my sale; THEY get my recommendation; and THEY get my respect.
