The Problem of Premature Ejaculation
Published by: admin 2008-07-19

Expectations during intimacy can be a sore point to discuss for some men. The male image as a reliable source and pillar of strength often transfers to sexual matters as well, in the minds of some men if nowhere else. To put it another way, its not unusual for men to feel obligated to satisfy their partners during sexual intimacy most, if not all, of the time. In those instances where a male does not intimately satisfy his partner, or believes he has failed to do so, its not uncommon to presume that the male suffers some form of sexual performance problem.

The problem most often defined in a male that relates to sexual functioning is premature ejaculation. Though premature ejaculation is not uncommon terminology, the specific definition of what premature ejaculation is can be difficult to pin down. The best description for premature ejaculation just may be that the male, and perhaps his partner, believe the male has poor ejaculation control. This belief in itself certainly doesnt prove that a male has a particular poor ejaculatory response in comparison to other males, but it does indicate that sexual performance is a problem from that males perspective, which is reason enough to at least give the situation consideration.

Males are sometimes curious about whether theres a specific baseline with respect to ejaculation times during intercourse. In other words, whats the average time that males typically orgasm during intercourse. Its a question that may never be answered absolutely, but studies have suggested that men typically orgasm within six and a half minutes once penetration has taken place. Whether six and half minutes is a long time or not is up for individual opinion, but the time frame does provide an insight into typical sexual performance. It should be noted that the six and a half minute range is not an absolute standard.

If a male shouldnt make it to six and half minutes before he orgasms, it certainly wouldnt qualify as absolute evidence of a problem with sexual functioning. The more appropriate method to use, once more, might be an individual insight from the male that his sexual performance is irregular. While a male by himself can certainly come to the conclusion that he ejaculates too soon, getting input from a regular intimate partner would provide valuable insight into whether theres actually a problem. The reality just may be that the males intimate partner doesnt observe any problem with the males sexual functioning at all, and only the male himself perceives a problem.

In the event that an issue with premature ejaculation is suspected, there are a number of options available to treat the problem. Premature ejaculation is not especially uncommon, and usually responds well able to treatment.
