Spiritual Visionaries on the Job

September 7, 2008

Most people feel that being a visionary is something that is done only by the elite: the corporate CEO’s and the Chairman of the board. Granted, the responsibility for running their individual corporation makes demands of them that it doesn’t of the workers; however , each of us is a corporation! Each individual is put in charge of their life and they are responsible for what they do WITH it and how they IMPACT others that they touch. “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Prov. 29:18

A common phrase that is used today says, “Well, ‘it’s my life after all.” Women feel justified in killing an unborn child because after all, it is THEIR BODY! I can steal and go to jail if “I’m willing to do the TIME.” But, what about those you stole from? What about those who love you and share your life? What about not just those that you currently touch or impact, but what about those you might have been able to impact in the future? You see, it’s really not just about US! It’s not just MY LIFE!

“Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born.” Ronald Reagan

My life belongs to the one who created me! My life belongs to the originator and maker who obviously made me with a PLAN in mind! And, we leave parts of our lives with others we come in contact with. It is a contact that can benefit or hurt those we touch. Life is really a lot more complicated in the area of relationships than we know.

“The true meaning to life is to plant trees, under whose shade we do not expect to sit.” Nelson Henderson

The verse from Proverbs 29:18 in the original language means not so much PERISH as it does to be left standing NAKED! In other words, EMBARRASSED! Having NO DEFENSE against the accusations leveled at you. We will never be successful in life is we don’t know WHY we’re here, WHERE we are headed and with some EVIDENCE of the former two mentions. As the philosopher has said, “tell me your CERTAINTIES, I have enough DOUBTS of my own.” People are looking for a ROCK, a sure foundation on which they can anchor their lives.

“Life demands from he strength you possess. Only one feat is possible-not to have run away.” Dag Hammarskjold

It is therefore not just for US that we need a vision but for others around us. A rising tide lifts all boats. If we ALL do our part we edify, encourage, and LIFT all spirits and souls! To “be a visionary” is nothing more than to be able to SEE and discern what path we should be on. If we are not aware of the road we’re traveling, we’ll surely encounter detours that can wreck havoc with our lives.

We’re built to be more than automatons waking up, going to work, eating, sleeping, and then doing it all over again the next day. Life is to have a zeal and a happiness to it because we SEE where we’re to be and go. And, we can measure our progress each season as we plod on to the eventual calling: as we PRESS on to the PRIZE of life! Call it what you want, but the person who understands their destiny (is a visionary), is a person who reaps great rewards.

You can be a visionary in that you’re on the cutting edge (a later promotion trait) of THINGS. But, there is also the person who is a SEER of things to come: one who attracts and gathers others because they need the model and the compass from which we find direction in our lives.

“You only live once- but if you work it right, once is enough.” Joe E. Lewis
