Is your Depression your Own? Think Twice. Studies Have Proved Otherwise!

October 14, 2008

A recent study conducted by the World Health Organization revealed that 90 % of the depression cases go untreated. Depression is a mental disorder which people refuse to accept as a disease especially when in initial stages. Even when it steadily makes home in the mind of a person, many a times the victim refuses to accept that he or she is suffering from some illness. People take depression for granted and assigning all the mental pain, anxiety, agony and apathy to the way of life, prefer to keep this very dangerous illness untreated.

The study conducted by WHO also showed that most of the people suffering from depression have clinical depression. Now you must be wondering, what is the difference between the two terms? There is a difference and that too a major one. Clinical depression refers to the depression that requires mandatory medical treatment. This kind of depression has all the capabilities to completely wreck the life of the victim if left untreated. The tragedy however is that even more than 50% of the clinical depression cases do not receive any treatment. Courtesy - the ignorance of the patients.

Depression doesnt have any unique or different symptoms. The symptoms that it shows, people prefer to ignore. In addition, the disease is also not apparently life threatening. Thus as per the English saying, Ignorance is bliss. People blissfully ignore all the signs and symptoms of depression and make their life and lives of those around them a living hell.

It is a very wrong conception that depression, anxiety, and panic disorders affect only the victim. Along with the victim the ones near him or her are also deeply affected. For example if a child has a mental disorder, its parents are affected and vice versa. In this way the depression in the victim is many a times translated into the near and dear ones.

You dont believe me? Well, studies have shown that the marriages that have one partner suffering from depression are nine times more vulnerable to divorce as compared to the ones without depression. The first step to get rid of depression or for that matter any other mental disorder is the patients acceptance that there is some problem with him. In case you are married, talk to your partner regarding the problems you face. Theres no use getting finicky, your spouse is not your foe but a part of you. There should be no holding back on your part. Talking out to the partner and sharing the innermost thoughts, fears, apprehensions, complexities, and all the dark thoughts that have taken ground in your mind can ease your heart and soul and can even solve half your problems.

After you have talked your heart out to your partner you can solve the other half by visiting a doctor and abiding the prescription that he gives you. In case he prescribes you to buy xanax, you can even buy xanax online. Being a prescribed drug it is necessary to be taken only when you get a green signal by your doctor. Also note that your problems might just magnify if you fall into the Xanax side effects. So dont make others suffer owing to your depression. Life and its nitty gritties are too precious to let depression take control of it. Solve the matters when they are in your hands. Who knows later they might just slip off like sand!
