How Easy is it to Find Spiritual Help?
October 11, 2008
We live in a world today that puts great emphasis on efficiency and ease. Technologies sell in huge amounts if they are able to make tasks faster and easier than preceding technologies did. Our desire for faster and easier also often translates to matters in our own personal lives, whether they be self-improvement issues or doing things that improve the quality and comfort of our lives. We typically dont want to wait and push for the things that we want. We want what we want, and we it now.
The search for the easiest and most direct path often carries over to more personal issues, such as self-improvement or an improved quality of life. Having said that its not unusual to hear that for certain things there is no shortcut, and that only diligent and consistent effort will show results. In fact, theres a tendency even to criticize methods or a mindset that looks for a quick or easy solution to resolving situations.
One particular problem solving technique however not only embraces the notion of easy solutions, but is quite proud of it. The hooponopono problem solving method is often described by its enthusiasts as the simplest and least resistant way to change ones life for the better. This way of describing hooponopono is appealing to some, but raises suspicion among others because it claims to bypass something many people think is inevitable: hard work.
The practice of the hooponopono form is generations old. The traditional form of hooponopono was a process whereby entire families would come together to resolve disputes. Traditional hooponopono required every individual connected to the dispute in some way or other to be present during dispute resolution, and for someone to take a leadership role and guide the entire process. An updated form of hooponopono claims to have altered the hooponopono process to involve only an individual and the source of all creation, or God, or however one prefers to refer to such an entity. While hooponopono does embrace the notion of a higher source and connecting to it, hooponopono isnt any form of organized religion.
Practitioners of hooponopono state that hooponopono does demonstrate positive results without the need for great effort, though the results dont necessarily occur in a timely fashion. When the positive results from practicing hooponopono happen isnt predictable, but according to hooponoponos dedicated following, the positive results are assured to occur. Though hooponopono is far from being a universally accepted technique, it has generated increasing amounts of interest and notoriety and has a dedicated group of practitioners and supporters. While hooponoponos claims havent necessarily been documented in some impartial, experimental way, the claims do exist, and people are willing to testify to their legitimacy.
