Ebay’s Turbo Lister Program: Should you Use It?
September 6, 2008
With one hundred million sellers on eBay you are probably wondering why so many people have jumped on the bandwagon. It is because its such an easy way of making money. All you have to do is sign up and register as a seller and instantly other members will have access to see what you have on offer for sale. Initially, of course, you have to take time to make your listings attract the attention of potential customers but once you are established as a reliable and trustworthy seller, your database of customers will increase with popularity as your feedback score gets higher and higher. There are no limits to your options of what to sell on eBay, from property and businesses to cars and personal items such as clothing and shoes - check out the prohibited items before submitting your listings though just so you keep on the right track.
So how do you go about starting to sell? First of all, you need to have taken part in the eBay experience, so buy something from another seller to see how the process works. Then when you feel confident in the system, find a product to sell, preferably an item which is considered to be a necessity (although necessity, of course, is in the eyes of the beholder!). If you can buy your chosen item(s) from a wholesaler, this can be a much more cost effective way to operate. As soon as you have sorted out the formalities with the supplier, and decided on your profit margin, you can then choose whether to sell on an auction basis or at a set price where the buyer can purchase immediately with just one click without having to bid against other eBayers. Once people are buying your items you can have the goods shipped direct from the wholesaler which will solve any storage problems you may encounter having to keep your items at home or in storage.
Customer service is the key to becoming a respected seller on eBay and as a general rule, as in any business, the customer is always right. It is important that you recognize the customers needs and what he or she expects to receive in terms of service from you. Having this understanding and knowledge will make you a better seller and your customers are likely to come back time and time again, leaving positive feedback which, in turn, will attract new buyers to your business.
eBay offers numerous tutorials, and even holds eBay University classes in your local area from time to time to help you become a good seller. Taking a little time and effort to attend classes or to at least read up about eBay at the beginning of your trading will definitely help you to avoid mistakes and hopefully ensure a profitable business in the making.
