Checking your Pagerank on Every Google Datacenter
September 5, 2008
Datacenters
The reason for this Dancing is the fact that Google has more than 10,000 servers to update in several datacenters. This way they spread the risk of going completely down and they can spread the traffic to balance the server load. Obviously, the index update cannot be proceeded on all those servers at the same time. One server after the other is updated with the new index.
Another benefit of this approach is the way Google can easily fallback on the previous index when the new index turns out the contain errors. Google just has to turn off the faulty datacenter while the other datacenters take over. Correction are made to the update process and the datacenter is turned on again.
PageRank
By checking each individual datacenter you can see what your PageRank will be in the end of the whole process. To find out what your PageRank on the different datacenters is you need to know their IP-addresses. We have the addresses from all the operational datacenters and of the experimental datacenters. Since new index techniques are tested on the experimental datacenters you would like to know your PageRank on these datacenters too. This way you may still have time to anticipate to the new index techniques.
Datacenter Analyzer
Webmasteslookup.com added a new tool to their website: The Datacenter Analyzer.
You can fill in your websites URL and the Datacenter Analyzer will tell you the PageRank on all the known datacenters.
You can find the analyzer at http://www.webmasterslookup.com/datacenter-check.php.
By clicking on the individual IP-addresses you can do further research on the particular datacenter. Please visit http://www.webmasterslookup.com for similar tools or to find a web professional. I wish you happy searching.
