However, Baotou is not only famed as an industrial city but also a great tourist spot with a rich history dating back to the Neolithic Age, which is of more than 6000 years old. The present site of Baotou was once inhabited by Mongolian nomads as well as grazers. Later, the Qing Dynasty occupied this Neolithic site, and established it as a city.
